Shaanxi History Museum tickets for foreigners

The main museum is free — but there is no English web booking. Official notices send you to WeChat (陕西历史博物馆). Trip.com’s paid SKU is a treasure/mural hall ticket, not free general admission. Verified 6 Oct 2026.

The one path for free entry

  1. Open the official English notice (QR): en.sxhm.com reservation notice — or search WeChat 陕西历史博物馆.
  2. In WeChat: Login or Register → Ticket Reservation.
  3. Choose ID type Passport and enter the number exactly as printed.
  4. Complete the verification code step, pick a time slot, confirm (up to 5 visitors per reservation; 1 ticket per ID per day).
  5. Save the confirmation. Cancel in-app if plans change.
  6. Enter with the original passport. Main building hours on the May–Nov 2026 notice: 08:30–19:00 (last entry 18:00); closed Mondays except national holidays.

Limits that catch foreigners

Official EN notice: WeChat QR only, passport OK, limits, no-show ban, hours. Official Chinese guide: 17:00 daily release 5 days ahead. Live Trip.com check 6 Oct 2026: free entry via Official WeChat; paid mural/treasure SKU only on Trip.com.

Pitfalls: Buying Trip.com “museum ticket” thinking it is free general admission; missing the 17:00 release; no-showing without cancel; confusing this site with the Qin-Han Civilization Museum.

Nearby: Terracotta Army foreigners · Alipay / WeChat Pay setup · release times.
