SimpleChinaTripBooking guide for foreign visitors

How Do Foreigners Reserve Free Guangdong Museum Tickets?

Admission is free, but every visitor needs a real-name, timed reservation. Book through the museum’s official WeChat account 广东省博物馆 (not a walk-up queue for ordinary visitors). New slots release daily at 22:00 Beijing time. Bring the same passport you booked with and enter at the West Gate individual lane.

Why WeChat (not walk-up / Trip.com)

Guangdong Museum (广东省博物馆) in Zhujiang New Town is free, but capacity is controlled with timed slots. Foreigners often stall on WeChat real-name booking or assume they can walk up — ordinary visitors need a booking ahead.

The English visitor rules on gdmuseum.com explain hours, West Gate entry, booking limits, and no-show penalties; the actual booking flow still lives in WeChat (official account / mini-program).

We do not invent an English third-party ticket button. Trip.com’s Guangdong Museum attraction URL returned HTTP 404 when we checked — so this guide stays on Official WeChat + hotel assist + WhatsApp help.

How to reserve

  1. Open WeChat → search 广东省博物馆 → open the official account’s ticket / booking mini-program. Complete real-name verification on the account.
  2. Be ready at 22:00 Beijing time when new tickets release. Pick a date and timed slot.
  3. Add each visitor’s name and ID (passport for foreigners). Up to 5 people per order; children 6 and under must be booked with an adult, not alone.
  4. Save the confirmation. If plans change, cancel — two consecutive no-shows or three total lock the account out of booking for 90 days.
  5. On the day: arrive in your slot, use the West Gate individual-visitor lane, present the same passport used to book, pass security.
  6. Stuck without a Chinese phone number? Give passport details to your hotel front desk and ask them to book on WeChat. Eligible on-site registration (seniors 65+, disabilities, and listed preferential groups) is a narrow backup — not for most tourists.

Free museum — book on official WeChat. No Trip.com ticket listing verified (HTTP 404). Hotel front desk can often help if you lack a Chinese phone.

Pitfalls

Verified 19 Oct 2026 CST against our live /guangzhou/guangdong-museum/ page and gdmuseum.com English Visitor Information (col925/list): free timed booking, 22:00 release, hours, West Gate, 5/order, 14-day account limit, no-show 90-day ban, on-site eligible groups. Trip.com Guangdong Museum attraction URL HTTP 404 — no Trip ticket CTA. Days-ahead window and passport-only WeChat signup remain unverified on the EN page.

FAQ

Is the Guangdong Museum free for foreigners?

Yes. Admission is free, but every visitor needs a real-name timed reservation through official channels.

When are tickets released?

Every day at 22:00 Beijing time, per the museum’s English visitor information.

Do I need WeChat?

Yes for the primary path — search 广东省博物馆 and book in the official account / mini-program. If you cannot, ask your hotel to book with your passport details.

Do I need a Chinese phone number?

The official English page does not clearly say whether WeChat booking accepts passport accounts without a Chinese phone. If your WeChat cannot finish real-name booking, hotel assist is the practical backup.

How many people per order?

Up to 5 per order. Children aged 6 and under may not book independently. Each account may make one booking within 14 days.

What if I miss my slot / no-show?

Cancel ahead if you cannot go. Two consecutive no-shows or three cumulative ones restrict the account from booking for 90 days.

Where do I enter?

West Gate individual-visitor access during your reserved time, with the same ID used to book.
