Rules say passport is fine — the friction is SMS, WeChat, and a flaky ticket host, not the ID type.

How to try
- Read the official visit notice on chncpa.org for your week (price, Monday closure, north gate).
- Try m.chncpa.org register with 其他证件 if offered — expect Chinese SMS.
- If the ticket host fails (we saw connection closed) or WeChat QR blocks you, go to the box office with passport for real-name purchase.
- Bring the same original passport; one ticket per ID per day.
- Enter the north gate for visit products only.
Official rules change — re-check the linked source on your travel week. Prefer official channels; avoid unofficial “guaranteed ticket” sellers.

- Buying a performance ticket when you only wanted the architecture visit.
- Assuming Trip.com sells this visit product (unverified).
