Xi’an City Wall tickets for foreigners

Adult admission is about CNY 54 (half CNY 27). You can book up to 7 days ahead in the official WeChat mini-program 西安城墙景区, or buy English tickets on Trip.com. Since 1 July 2026 gates check mainland ID cards or faces — foreign passport holders must swap an online booking for a paper entry voucher at a gate ticket window (windows also sell to foreigners and cash payers).

Booking steps

 1. Option A — WeChat: open mini-program 西安城墙景区, book up to 7 days ahead with passport details.
 2. Option B — Trip.com: English product pages exist (from about US$8 on 6 Oct 2026 captures) — enter passport exactly.
 3. At the gate: go to a ticket window with your passport. Swap the online booking for a paper voucher, or buy on the spot if the window still sells.
 4. Walk or rent a bike on the wall — bike hire is a separate purchase.

What changed on 1 July 2026

Scenic-area notices switched gates to ID / face verification instead of scanning booking QRs. That works smoothly for mainland ID cards; passport visitors are directed to windows for paper vouchers. Do not assume a screenshot QR alone will open the turnstile.

Scenic-area notice via Sxdaily 1 Jul 2026 (ID/face; foreigners swap for paper vouchers; windows sell to foreigners/cash). Trip.com attraction page title/hours verified 6 Oct 2026. Bendibao mini-program price notes (54/27). Our DB last_verified 2026-10-06.

Pitfalls: Showing only a QR after the Jul 2026 change; forgetting bike rental is extra; arriving at a side gate after its earlier close; passport name mismatch on the voucher swap.

FAQ

Can I just show a WeChat QR at the gate?

No — since 1 Jul 2026 QR entry ended. Passport holders take the passport used in the booking to a ticket window for a paper voucher.

How much?

Adult CNY 54; half CNY 27. Bike rental is separate.

Trip.com OK?

Yes — English fallback. Still bring the same passport; expect a window stop if the gate needs a paper voucher.

Which gate?

South Gate (Yongning) is the busiest iconic entry; East/West/North and some corners close earlier (~20:00) than the main 08:00–22:00 window.
