    Open the official ticket page

    Go to en.mutianyugreatwall.com and click “Get tickets”, then choose English. It opens the Reservation Center ticket page. You don't need to log in to start.

    Pick a date and a morning or afternoon slot

    The booking runs in 3 steps: Select Dates and Tickets → Confirm Order → Close Deal. Choose a date (each one shows how many tickets are left; use the calendar icon for later dates, up to 15 days ahead) and a morning or afternoon session.

    Unfold “Mutianyu Great Wall” and choose your ticket

    Adult ticket CNY 45 (wall only), with round-trip shuttle bus CNY 60, or with shuttle bus + round-trip cable car CNY 200. Student versions cost CNY 25 / 40 / 180. Click “Add Tourist Information” on the one you want.

    Enter each visitor's name and passport number

    In the “Fill in a Form” pop-up, ID Type is already set to Passport. Type the name and passport number exactly as printed, then click “next step”. One ticket per passport per day.

    Confirm the order and payCheck

    Check the date, session and ticket type on the Confirm Order step, then pay. We stopped at the passport form, so we haven't confirmed whether this step asks for a phone number or which foreign cards it accepts.

    On the day: passport at the gate

    Show your passport or the SMS QR code at entry. Take the shuttle from the service area if your ticket includes it. Cable-car riders go to the cable car station; the toboggan is sold and boarded separately.

Key pitfalls

  • The CNY 45 ticket does not include the 3 km shuttle from the service area to the wall. Most visitors want at least the CNY 60 ticket with shuttle.
  • Wall, shuttle, cable car and toboggan are sold as separate products. A round-trip cable car ticket means you must come back down the same way.
  • Ticket sales stop an hour before closing (17:00 on weekdays, 17:30 at weekends in peak season).
  • Bring the original passport you booked with. The official site says: “Show your passport or SMS QR code to enter the park”.
  • Student tickets need your passport and a valid student ID at the gate. If you can't show both, you pay the difference.

  • We stopped at the passport form. The Confirm Order and payment steps (and whether they need a phone number or accept foreign cards) are not verified. If payment fails, buy at the ticket office with your passport.

Can I book Mutianyu online without a Chinese phone number or account?

You can choose a date, session and ticket and reach the passport form on en.mutianyugreatwall.com without logging in. We stopped there, so we haven't seen the payment step.

How much is a Mutianyu ticket?

Adult wall admission is CNY 45. With the round-trip shuttle bus it's CNY 60; with shuttle and round-trip cable car it's CNY 200. Student prices are CNY 25 / 40 / 180.

Do I need my passport to enter?

No. The shuttle bus from the service area (about 3 km) and the cable car are extras. Most visitors buy the CNY 60 shuttle ticket or the CNY 200 shuttle + cable car ticket.

Will Mutianyu sell out?

Rarely. The official calendar showed about 39,000 tickets a day on 6 Oct 2026. Ticket sales end at 17:00 on weekdays and 17:30 at weekends in peak season.
