Ticket office on site

Foreign visitors need a Tibet Travel Permit and an agency tour to be in Lhasa. At Norbulingka itself, the official notice says tickets are sold at the ticket office right of the East Gate (one person, one ID). Walking up is the simplest option; the official WeChat mini-program, the only other authorised channel, is listed under backups.

Step-by-step booking guide

    Visit as part of your agency tour

    You need a Tibet Travel Permit, arranged by a licensed agency, to be in Lhasa.

    Buy at the East Gate ticket office

    The ticket office is to the right of the East Gate; one ticket per person per ID. Standard CNY 60, concession CNY 30.

    Or book in the Norbulingka mini-program

    Up to 10 days ahead. Unused tickets can be refunded, or changed up to 3 times, before 23:45 on the visit day.

    Arrive before 17:30

    Open 09:30–19:00: ticket sales stop 17:30, last entry 17:50, and the palace halls close at 18:30.

Key pitfalls

  • Foreign visitors still need a Tibet Travel Permit and an agency tour to be in Lhasa.
  • Only two authorised sellers: the East Gate ticket office and the Norbulingka mini-program. Other sellers aren't authorised.
  • Ticket sales stop at 17:30 and the halls close at 18:30 — don't arrive late.
  • The zoo inside is ticketed separately.
