The Humble Administrator's Garden still needs a real-name, timed reservation. According to the Suzhou government, the Suzhou gardens' ticketing is connected to Trip.com, so you can book in English with your passport.

Step-by-step booking guide

  1. 1

Book a timed ticket on Trip.com

Open the Humble Administrator's Garden page on Trip.com (our button above), choose a date up to 7 days ahead and a time slot, and enter your name and passport number exactly as printed.

  2. 2

Check the price for your month

CNY 80 in April, May and July–October; CNY 70 in the other months (official price list).

  3. 3

No online booking? Use the service window

The Suzhou government says the gardens run an on-site service window where staff sell tickets to foreign visitors, and foreign bank cards are accepted at the major gardens. Expect queues on busy days.

  4. 4

Arrive at opening with your passport

Check-in starts at 07:30 (06:45 until 7 Oct 2026). Show the passport you booked with or your QR code at the gate.

  5. 5

Allow 1.5–2 hours, then visit the Suzhou Museum next door

The museum is free but has its own timed booking, so reserve it separately.

Key pitfalls

  • Real-name reservation is still required here (one of only three Suzhou gardens that kept it), and you need your passport.
  • You can't change the date of a booking: cancel and book again. Don't buy on several platforms.
  • Cancel before midnight the day before to avoid a no-show. Two no-shows in a week block booking for 30 days.
  • Arrive at opening: the garden is busiest from mid-morning.
