Step-by-step booking guide

    Get there from Dali Old Town

    Walk about 20 minutes north from the North Gate, or take bus 4 or 19.

    Buy at the ticket window

    Show your passport and buy the CNY 75 admission; add the shuttle if you don't want the uphill walk.

    Follow the classic route

    Shuttle up to the main hall, walk down past Juying Pool, then finish at the Three Pagodas plaza.

    Allow 2–3 hours

    Mornings are calmest and best for photos.

  • The temple grounds climb a long way uphill behind the pagodas — the shuttle saves a steep walk.
  • The best pagoda reflections are in the Juying Pool on still mornings.
  • It is about 1.5 km north of Dali Old Town — walk 20 minutes or take bus 4 or 19 from the North Gate.
