On the official site (in Chinese), the “外籍人购票” (Foreigner ticket purchase) button opens the official Trip.com listing. Skip the “预约购票” button next to it: that's a WeChat QR code for domestic visitors.

Pick a date and a morning or afternoon session
Choose the date of use and a session, then “Next”. The checkout we tested (1 adult, 7 Oct, morning) came to US$5.97 with free cancellation until 23:59 on the visit date.

Add each traveler's passport and pay
Click “Add Travelers” and enter the name and passport number exactly as printed, then contact details. One item per passport per date; max 2 bookings per mobile number a day. We stopped before entering personal data.

On the day
Open 06:30–16:30 (Apr–Oct) or 07:30–16:00 (Nov–Mar). Bring the passport you booked with. The southern cable car doesn't run on Tuesday mornings.
Key pitfalls
- Admission doesn't include the cable car. Buy the “Admission ticket + cable car” combo if you want it.
- Since 19 May 2026 the southern cable car line is closed every Tuesday morning for maintenance.
- One ticket per passport per date; max 2 bookings per mobile number a day; max 10 tickets per booking.
- The badaling.cn site is in Chinese. Its “预约购票” button is the domestic WeChat route; foreigners should click “外籍人购票”.
- This is the busiest Great Wall section, especially at weekends and holidays. Mutianyu is usually quieter.
