    Pick a day from Tuesday to Sunday

    The museum (204 Dongbei Street, next to the Humble Administrator's Garden) is open 09:00–17:00, last entry 16:00, and closed on Mondays except national holidays.

    Book a free timed slot — up to 7 days ahead

    Use the official website (szmuseum.com, Chinese, real-name registration required), the museum's official WeChat account, or the “苏州博物馆全预约” WeChat mini-program. Same-day booking works if tickets remain, until 15:40.

    Enter every visitor's name and ID numberCheck

    One booking per ID per day, and up to 10 people per account. Whether the website registration accepts a foreign passport wasn't verified, so use WeChat or ask your hotel if it doesn't.

    Arrive within your time slot

    Bring the booking number and the same ID. Arrive within 30 minutes either side of your slot. If you need left luggage, come 30 minutes before your slot.

    Cancel if plans change

    Cancel before your slot ends. Two consecutive no-shows, or four within 90 days, block you from booking for 90 days.

Key pitfalls

  • Free doesn't mean walk-in: book a timed slot, and arrive within 30 minutes either side of it or the booking becomes invalid.
  • Closed on Mondays (except national holidays).
  • One booking per ID per day; up to 10 people per account, each with their own name and ID number.
  • No-shows count: two in a row, or four within 90 days, block you from booking for 90 days. Cancel before your slot ends if plans change.
  • Enter at the museum's main gate; the exit is through the Zhongwang Mansion gate.
