Summer Palace tickets for foreigners

No reservation required for most visitors. Visit Beijing’s path: buy at the comprehensive service window at the park gate with your passport. Combined ticket recommended on a first visit.

Walk-up steps

  1. Bring your passport — no advance booking required for the usual foreigner path.
  2. Go to the comprehensive service window in the gate area (Visit Beijing wording).
  3. Choose admission or the combined ticket (adds Foxiang Ge / Suzhou Street / other inner sights).
  4. Enter and budget half a day. Peak season gates roughly 06:00–19:00 (park closes later); winter shorter.

Pitfalls: Admission-only then paying again for Foxiang Ge; unauthorized OTAs; Monday closures on some separately ticketed inner sights; confusing this with Forbidden City’s 20:00 reservation system.

No. Buy at the comprehensive service window with your passport. Optional WeChat booking 1–7 days ahead if you prefer.

Admission or combined ticket?

Admission about CNY 30 peak / 20 low. Combined about CNY 60 / 50 includes inner sights such as the Tower of Buddhist Incense — usually worth it.

Is there an English website to buy tickets?

There is no practical web checkout for foreigners. The official EN scenic site lists hours/prices; purchase is on-site or WeChat.

How long do I need?

Plan 3+ hours. Boats are separate tickets.
